Vintage Wedding Cakes

Vintage is a term that is used frequently in the wedding industry as many couples now like to incorporate some element of vintage in their wedding. The dictionary meaning of ‘vintage’ is  “denoting something from the past of high quality, especially something representing the best of its kind.”
The 1920’s and 30’s were inspirational eras for fashion as the clothes were elegant and feminine using quality fabrics like satin and lace, both of which were a sign of affluence.

When talking about a vintage wedding cake, the first thing that springs to mind are the colours white and cream. Lace is also dominating at the moment with the introduction of revolutionary Cake Lace which allows cake decorators to create flexible and edible lace trims that look stunningly realistic.

As with the fashion industry, the term vintage is now loosely used in the wedding cakes industry and it encompass a wide variety of designs including those with lace, pearls, sugar roses and soft pastel colours like dusky rose, ivory and pastel blue.
